April River

Near Jeff's home, the Amnicon River slows from its upstream rapids and falls into a muddy eddy. April brings snowmelt and the smell of thaw to this familiar stretch of water. In the right light, the blue of the sky meets the warmth of the river and the two begin to vibrate together.

April River grows from that meeting of colors. The same river that cuts through red stone farther upstream becomes a quieter subject here, close to its mouth at Lake Superior. Jeff finds its beauty in a particular season and a particular light, when familiar water offers something worth stopping to see.
