Bonfire

A fire flickers, logs crack, and sparks rise into darkness. Jeff sets that familiar experience beside the restless stream of images that fills contemporary life. The movement of a flame offers him a different kind of attention.

In Bonfire, that response reaches beyond the evening itself. Jeff associates the appeal of fire with something shared across generations, a peace older than the screens around us. The painting begins with the simple pull of watching a fire and stays close to the feeling it brings.
