Books

Old paper, worn leather, and an open page become the subject of a painting about visual language. Jeff had been thinking about the power of simple, complete expression and how a painter might achieve it. In Books, that search passes through value, line, and color.

He sees a close relationship between reading words and reading a painting. Marks arranged on a page become ideas, just as brushstrokes arranged on a canvas become books. The challenge is to make that language feel simple without losing the meaning that gives it life.
