Hands on hips and chin raised, this boy brings Jeff back to the freedom of his own childhood. Summer days began outside after breakfast and stretched toward dark through adventures, skinned knees, and places the children probably should not have explored. What might now be called difficult was, to them, simply fun.

Boys Will Be Boys carries that memory of testing limits and finding a way forward. Jeff recalls the posturing, the falls, and the courage that gradually shaped a personality. The stance is particular, but the boy is someone he believes many of us will recognize from the children we were or the children we raised.
