Fish on Teapot

A golden smoked cisco rests on Jeff's favorite polished silver teapot. Both objects have returned to his easel repeatedly because they give such clear expression to silver and gold. Their meeting offers another opportunity to resolve a familiar subject with greater clarity.

Jeff approaches that challenge as a puzzle of craft and judgment. Knowing more, in his view, should eventually make it possible to say something more simply. Fish on Teapot brings that pursuit into paint, where the work of understanding supports the simplicity of the finished image.
