Fog

A thick bank of Lake Superior fog can settle around Jeff's home while his son, a few miles along the same road, sits in sunshine. At times, the boundary is sharp enough to see while driving toward the house. At others, the fog moves in and out, beading on birches and quieting the landscape.

Fog records the view just outside Jeff's back door. The familiar scene changes under cold, wet air arriving from the lake. His response to that transformation is direct, an appreciation of something beautiful happening close to home.
