Hope

Jeff imagines Hope as a painting to spend time with over many years. He wants its immediate presence to brighten a room, while leaving something still to discover. The first encounter is only the beginning of the relationship he hopes it will invite.

He thinks of looking as a long and sincere conversation. A work can offer pleasure at first glance and carry substance that takes longer to recognize. Hope expresses his wish to bring both qualities together, with something held in reserve for the hundredth look.
