River Rapids

Tea-colored water rushes over granite, carrying cold spray through the scent of wet stone and cedar. The image of this river stayed with Jeff until he felt compelled to paint it. River Rapids begins with that persistent pull of something seen and not forgotten.

Jeff describes his attention in the studio and outdoors as directed toward the work itself. While painting, he is concerned with doing the best he can to capture what first captivated him. This river demanded that same commitment, with the memory of its movement continuing to draw him back.
